CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — After more than four years of providing crucial weather coverage to the Coastal Bend, Meteorologist Kristin Walla is saying farewell. She will soon be joining the weather team at KVUE, our sister station in Austin.
Kristin joined the 3NEWS team in December of 2021 as our weekend evening meteorologist. She quickly became a key member of our team, providing useful and accurate forecasts while also making major contributions to projects such as our yearly Hurricane Special and our Water Woes series, which was nominated for an award by the Texas Association of Broadcasters.
Kristin was part of team coverage during Tropical Storm Harold. She and the 3NEWS team were on air for 7.5 hours straight covering the storm’s impacts – including multiple tornado warnings – to keep the Coastal Bend safe.
“Kristin played a big role in the KIII weather team. She was a reliable source for your weekend weather, and this is a well-deserved promotion. Austin is lucky to have her!” Chief Meteorologist Carly Smith said. “We will miss her greatly here at 3NEWS.”
“It’s always bittersweet saying goodbye to a member of our team, especially one as talented as Kristin,” News Director Jonathan Munson said. “She joined us just out of college and has done an amazing job ever since. We’ll all miss Kristin, but we’re excited to see what’s next for her.”
Kristin’s last day on air will be Sunday, May 10. We’ll be watching, and we hope you’ll join us to give her the send-off she deserves!
