ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) -A man from Texas is being charged with traveling from Texas to St. Louis County to engage in sexual relations with a teenage girl for the course of several months.
Michael Cantu, 26, is being charged with statutory rape, statutory sodomy, violation of a child protection order and property damage.

According to court records, the mother of the 16-year-old girl became aware of there being a possible interaction between her daughter and Cantu.
During an investigation, several texts were found between Cantu and the girl where sexual interactions were confirmed.
Cantu was taken into custody for violating a child protection order he had been previously served with.
When police questioned Cantu, he confessed to having had sexual relations with the minor for months.
Cantu also admitted he knew the teen’s age before traveling from Texas to Missouri.
During an encounter with police, Cantu kicked a police car door, causing property damage.
Cantu has a previous 2017 charge for enticement out of San Marcos, Texas.
