The first Mambo Seafood location in San Antonio opened near the Medical Center in 2023, and it was quickly followed by restaurants at Brooks City Base, Lackland and Las Palmas. Today, the Houston-based chain no longer has a local presence after suddenly shuttering all of its San Antonio locations.
In May 2025, MySA confirmed that Mambo Seafood at Lackland was closed to consolidate operations, whittling the number of locations to three. By March 2026, the Las Palmas location shuttered, leaving behind two remaining Mambo Seafood restaurants. On Wednesday, May 6, MySA called the Medical Center and City Base outposts, and a voice message said that both were permanently closed, effectively ending the chain’s run in San Antonio.
“Hello, thank you for calling Mambo Seafood. This location is now closed,” the voice message said. “We look forward to continuing to serve our guests in Houston and hope to welcome you at one of our locations there in the future.”
We sent an email to Mambo Seafood’s marketing team for additional comment, but we did not receive a response by the time of publishing. For now, we can confirm that the restaurant chain maintains its hold on the Houston market, with more than a dozen locations in the city’s greater metropolitan area.
Mambo Seafood is known for its fried fish offerings, seafood platters and its signature fried rice.
