National real estate television network REAL Shows Network (RSN) has announced that a new real estate and lifestyle show, Sugar Land Living, has been added to its RSN’s network of programs highlighting communities across the country.
Mickey Patel, a prominent Houston real estate agent, hosts Sugar Land Living. The series aims to capture the true essence of Houston by showcasing local culture, real estate, and specific stories from communities in half-hour episodes.
“As host of Sugar Land Living, my goal is to shine a light on the people and places that make Houston such a special place to call home,” Patel said. “From longtime local businesses to new voices in our community, we want viewers to see themselves and their neighbors reflected on screen.”
Houston has largely been lacking in reality television shows like Real Housewives or any of the top-tier reality shows, outside of the popular culinary competition series Top Chef, which came to Houston in 2021. With as large and diverse as the city is, you would think more shows would have the potential to use it. One thing Houston has that seems to be extremely appealing to lifestyle-type shows is its massive amount of real estate.
Real estate-focused shows are more abundant, which makes sense given Houston’s size and sprawl. The look at the communal real estate landscape of Sugar Land joins several other Houston-based real estate shows like Family Empire: Houston on OWN, which focuses on the Braden family’s Houston real estate empire, and Two Steps Home on HGTV, which stars Houston couple Jon Pierre and Mary Tjon-Joe-Pin, who buy, sell and renovate homes.
