BP Pulse, BP’s global EV charging infrastructure business, has announced the opening of another EV charging hub near a major airport. The latest site is located 1.5 miles from the William P. Hobby Airport at 8100 Monroe Road in Houston. It has been deployed in partnership with Hertz.

40 Stalls (150 kW)

The site features 40 DC fast-charging bays rated at up to 150 kW. Judging from the attached image, these are dual-head Tritium chargers, which BP Pulse has already used in many other stations.

The level of 150 kW might not be the highest (as other networks already install 350-400 kW), but with 40 stalls, the total installed capacity might be 6 MW.

There is no info regarding the charging connector, so we assume only CCS1 plugs are available.

According to BP Pulse, the hub “is designed to meet the needs of ride-hail drivers, airport rental car customers and local EV drivers”. The station also offers a covered canopy and free Wi-Fi.

The hub near Hobby Airport is not the only BP Pulse charging station in Houston, as in 2024, the company opened its first US site at BP’s Houston headquarters. BP Plans to build more EV charging hubs at airport locations across the country. Its network already includes a hub at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), near San Francisco International Airport (SFO), and near Boston Logan Airport (BOS).

Sujay Sharma, CEO of BP Pulse Americas, said:

“We are thrilled to open our latest EV charging hub near Houston’s Hobby Airport. This is another example of how we’re meeting EV drivers and ride-hailing fleets where they are, across metro and airport locations like this one.”

Doria Holbrook, EVP Mobility at Hertz, said:

“As our rideshare drivers often turn to EVs, having fast, reliable charging near key locations like Hobby Airport makes a real difference. This new bp pulse hub offers the convenient access and ultrafast charging our drivers need to stay powered and productive, while also serving the broader EV community in Houston.”

Launch Event: November 12

On November 12, 2025, BP Pulse will hold a launch event at the site with a promotional charging price of just $0.01/kWh:

“To celebrate the new hub, bp pulse will hold a launch event offering drivers the opportunity to charge their EV for $0.01/kWh anytime on Wednesday, November 12, as well as providing refreshments and giveaways from 9:00am – 4:00pm CT*.

*Excludes taxes/applicable fees. Available on 11/12/25, at bp pulse HOU site only (8100 Monroe Rd, Houston, TX).”

BP Pulse Expansion

Globally, BP Pulse has more than 40,000 charging points (AC and DC) and plans to have 100,000 stalls by 2030. Its US network is still relatively small (see the map here), consisting of more than 360 DC charging stalls according to the Alternative Fuels Data Center. For reference, the BP existing retail network includes more than 8,000 refueling locations in 46 states.

Expansion of the BP Pulse charging network includes the retail networks of BP, Amoco, ampm, Thorntons, and TravelCenters of America locations. Starting in 2026, BP Pulse chargers will be installed at Waffle House locations.
