LUBBOCK, Texas (NEWS RELEASE) – The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Unit is currently on scene in the area of 93rd Street and Memphis Avenue.
Initial information indicates one of our officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop around 11:30 a.m. in the 3400 block of Frankford Avenue. However, the suspect vehicle fled, prompting a pursuit. As the pursuit progressed, at 11:36 a.m. LPD called off the pursuit, allowing the DPS chopper, which was in the air at the time, to maintain visuals on the vehicle.
It appears, a little after 11:45 a.m., the suspect vehicle struck a pedestrian while continuing to flee. At this time, the pedestrian appears to have serious injuries.
The suspect was arrested.
