AUSTIN (KXAN) — Teagan Kavan shut down the Ole Miss Rebels, leading Texas to a 6-0 win Thursday in the quarterfinals at the Southeastern Conference softball tournament at John Cropp Stadium in Lexington, Kentucky.
Kavan spun a 2-hitter with nine strikeouts and a walk, allowing a pair of singles in a 99-pitch complete game. She faced four batters over the minimum and fired 65 strikes.

Leighann Goode gave Kavan an early cushion with a solo home run in the second inning. Goode powered the first pitch she saw from Emilee Boyer over the left-center field wall to give Texas a 1-0 lead.
The Longhorns tacked on three more in the third, fueled by a Vivi Martinez 2-run single. Another run came home on an Ole Miss error in the frame.

Kaydee Bennett capped the scoring with a pinch-hit, line-drive double off the right-center field wall to score two runs in the fifth.
Boyer struck out seven for the Rebels, but she had some control issues with five walks. She allowed five runs on six hits, throwing 105 pitches in five innings.

Texas (40-10) will play either Georgia or Oklahoma in the semifinals at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
