LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Yesterdays cooldown was big but brief as we’ve already rebounded several degrees warmer this afternoon, with even warmer/hotter weather moving in for Mother’s Day weekend.

TONIGHT
Overnight lows will stay a bit more mild than last night, mostly in the low 50s across the area.

FRIDAY
Gorgeous and warmer. High temperatures will climb about 10 degrees from Thursday’s highs, topping out in the upper 80s and some lower 90s.
Temperatures will soar to more than 10 degrees warmer than Thursdays highs(Dylan Smith)
Winds stay fairly light again around 10 to 20 mph.
MOTHER’S DAY WEEKEND FORECAST
Saturday will be the warmest day of the weekend as high temperatures continue a climb into the low to mid 90s for the afternoon hours.
A cold front arrives Mother’s Day morning but it’s still a generally warm/hot forecast for the foreseeable future(Dylan Smith)
A cold front arriving Sunday morning will drop temperatures to around 80 degrees for the afternoon hours.
Winds will ramp up behind a cold arriving Mother’s Day(Dylan Smith)
Winds are also going to kick up behind the front, gusting up to 30 to 35 mph at times.
EXTENDED WEATHER PATTERN
Temperatures will rapidly rebound as we move into next week with high temperatures expected to reach the mid to upper 90s by Tuesday. Not much in the way of rain/storm chances in the extended forecast unfortunately
