Dallas Black Dance Theatre is closing its 49th season with new and returning works choreographed primarily by members of the troupe.
The premieres, Before I Am Called by dance educator Marc Spaulding and Shadow Work by DBDT academy director Katricia Eaglin, trace the grief that follows the loss of a parent.
The program also includes the main stage premiere of dancer Brandon Palmer’s 1410, named for the house number of his first best friend and first shown at the annual “Black on Black” show of works by company members in December, and artistic director Richard A. Freeman Jr.’s 2014 Polarity II, which examines the presence of opposing forces, perspectives and emotions that influence decisions, relationships and outcomes.
In addition, junior company DBDT: Encore! is performing Katarzyna Skarpetowska’s Tidal Intersections.
