
Listen up, Fort Worth! Welcome to The Soundcheck, a biweekly music column keeping you in the loop on what’s happening across the Tarrant music scene.
As days get longer and the school year winds down, the first touches of summer are not the only things heating up Panther City. Stages all over Fort Worth offer a wide range of live music this month. Whether you are looking for indie Christian, smooth jazz or classic country sounds, evenings of entertainment are on tap for live music lovers of all tastes.
Tulips FTW
In 2019, a transformative spiritual experience led brothers Angelo, Michael and Eric Espinosa to follow music full time as their true calling. On May 8, they will bring what they describe as their “faith-driven lyrics with an authentic indie sound” to the Tulips FTW stage.

Tannahill’s Tavern & Music Hall
Three artists signed to Dreamer Management take the stage at Tannahill’s on May 9 in a collection of up-and-coming music built here in the Lone Star state. Dreamer was founded in 2025 by prolific singer songwriter Randy Rogers and music manager Elic Goicoechea and has quickly become a go-to for rising talent in the Texas music scene.

The Post
Texas singer Kerri Lick brings her unique blend of blues and folk to The Post on May 9. She describes herself as having “a sound right out of a vintage record shop.”

Southside Preservation Hall
Husband and wife duo Goldpine come straight out of Nashville, Tennessee, to the Rose Chapel stage at Southside Preservation Hall on May 16 for the Concerts in the Chapel. Ben and Kassie Wilson’s self-described “aggressive Americana” music stylings are bold and unapologetic.

Magnolia Motor Lounge
On May 22, Mila brings her self-described “rich honey-like voice and emotive melodies” to the Magnolia Motor Lounge. The artist’s blend of country sensibilities and indie-pop flair makes this show a unique offering for the lounge stage and one you should make space in your calendar.

Scat Jazz Lounge
Saxophone musician Shelley Carrol brings his smooth jazz stylings to Scat Jazz Lounge for a two performance residency on May 29. He was raised in a household of gospel singers and musicians in Houston and has shared the stage with multiplatinum artists Sheryl Crow and Gary Clark Jr.
Carrol is known as one of the “finest saxophonists in the country,” according to the Doc Fest Jazz Festival.

Hailey Green (she/they) is a live production professional based in North Texas. She serves as production manager for the Fort Worth African American Roots Music Festival as well as on faculty in the University of Texas at Arlington Department of Theatre Arts & Dance.
