A 13-year-old girl has been found safe, and an adult male has been arrested following a statewide search on Thursday night.
According to the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office, the child, who was reported missing from Keithville, Louisiana, on Thursday, was found safe on Friday morning.
An Amber Alert was issued for the child on Thursday afternoon. Prior to her disappearance, she was last seen at a residence in Keithville at 2:30 a.m. on Thursday and was believed to be in Allen, Texas.
Police searched for Daniel Mejia, an 18-year-old Hispanic male, in connection with the abduction of the child.
Officials said shortly after the Amber Alert was issued, investigators received tips that led authorities to a vehicle they believed to have been used in the abduction.
Investigators made contact with an individual who confirmed he drove Mejia to a residence where the child was taken without parental consent, and gave investigators an address where the child and Mejia could be found, officials said.
According to officials, Allen police officers responded to the address and successfully located both individuals.
Officials said Mejia was arrested by the Collin County Sheriff’s Office and charged with harboring a runaway.
The 13-year-old is safe and currently in the custody of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services while arrangements are made for her return to her parents, officials said.
