Construction on a portion of Gattis School Road in Round Rock wrapped up this month, as the city continues roadwork to improve traffic flow and enhance safety along the street.
The overview
The city expanded Gattis School Road—from A.W. Grimes Boulevard to Double Creek Drive—into a six-lane divided roadway, as well as added pedestrian improvements and bicycle enhancements. The city also added right- and left-turn bays with new traffic signals to A.W. Grimes and Double Creek.

Work on the roughly $26-million project—Gattis School Road Segment 3—was originally expected to be completed this fall.
What’s next
The city will continue work on the roadway, with construction of Gattis School Road Segment 6 still ongoing. The $23 million project will expand the roadway to six lanes, between Via Sonoma Trail and Red Bud Lane. Construction is expected to be completed in late 2027.
