LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office said one person is in the hospital after a fire in southeast Lubbock County.
First responders were called out to E CR 7300 and FM 400 for reports of a grass fire around 2:36 p.m. Idalou, Buffalo Springs and Slaton fire departments responded to the scene along with the Texas forest service.
One person suffered third-degree burns and was taken to UMC. LCSO said the fire spread to a camper on the property before it was contained.
According to the sheriff’s office, the fire may have started because of burning trash. An investigation is underway.
