Authorities identify body found on Padre Island National Seashore as missing woman

A 40-year-old woman who was reported missing on Padre Island has been found dead, according to the Corpus Christi Police Department.

Police said Angelita Martinez was found dead on May 6. The Texas Rangers are actively investigating the cause of her death alongside CCPD.

Martinez had been reported missing after she was last seen May 1 near Windward Drive on Padre Island.

No additional information has been released.
