OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (KCBD) – Arizona State beat Texas Tech 4-0 in the Big 12 Championship game on Saturday.
Texas Tech went into Saturday afternoon looking to capture their second straight Big 12 Conference Championship.
Nijaree Canady took the circle for the Red Raiders in the Championship game fresh off of five shutout innings on Thursday against Baylor.
It was the Sundevils that jumped out to an early lead over the Red Raiders after Arizona State hit three home runs. The first was hit off of Nijaree Canady by Tanya Windle.
Head Coach Gerry Glasco then put Kaitlyn Terry in the circle and Arizona State hit two more home runs to take a four run lead.
The Red Raiders’ offense struggled all afternoon long, as they only mustered up two hits in seven innings of action.
Arizona State pitcher Kenzie Brown was dominant in the title game as she struck out nine batters, and collected a complete game shutout.
Texas Tech will now move forward to the NCAA Tournament Softball Selection Show. The show is set to start at 6:00 pm on Sunday.
