FORT WORTH, Texas — A suspect has been arrested in connection with a September 3rd residential fire on Williams Street that injured two Fort Worth firefighters, according to the Fort Worth Fire Department.

Fort Worth Arson investigators launched an immediate investigation into the fire that severely injured Firefighter Caleb Halvorson. Through extensive efforts, including reviewing video footage, interviewing witnesses, and gathering evidence, the Arson Unit identified a suspect in the deliberate incendiary fire.

 On October 29th, with assistance from the Fort Worth Police Department, Shawndreika Thomas was arrested without incident and charged with “arson of habitation,” a felony 1 offense. Her charge includes bodily injury to the two firefighters, and the case has been filed with the District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.

The Arson Unit expressed gratitude to the Fort Worth Police Department, the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, the ATF, and others who supported the investigation. The Fire Department praised its investigators for their dedication and exceptional work, which led to the arrest of the suspect.
