A small Central Texas town is set to get a new multimillion-dollar option for tourists and incoming visitors to stay in. Marriott is planning to build a new $10 million hotel in Bastrop, a city about 40 minutes east of Austin.

The company’s latest plans for a more than 75,000 square foot Residence Inn by Marriott will be near the Home2Suites by Hilton in Bastrop, not too far from the city’s downtown square. Residence Inn by Marriott is an extended stay concept that offers spacious suites, fully equipped kitchens and complimentary breakfast, according to its website. The hotel typically features amenities like pools, grab-and-go markets, pet-friendly rooms and outdoor spaces.

Construction on the new Marriott hotel is expected to begin on July 15 and is estimated to be completed by November 2027. All TDLR filings are subject to change at any time.  This new hotel comes as the city continues to grow and attract new visitors with developments like an upcoming massive film studio and a $440 million data center.

Bastrop has also become a tech hub for big business over the years with Elon Musk’s companies such as X (formerly Twitter)SpaceX and the Boring Company all located within the outskirts of the city. MySA reached out to Marriott and Visit Bastrop for comment.
