LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Health inspectors cited multiple food safety violations at a local facility this week, including sanitation, labeling and hand-sink concerns.
Most issues were corrected during the inspection, according to the report.
Yuyo Japanese Restaurant at 5130 80th had 19 violations.
Sushi rice did not have a time stamp for when it was prepared.There were no barriers for the top and bottom sections of a cooler.A sanitizer solution was not strong enough.A spray bottle was not labeled.Butane was above a prep table.The sewage line of a hand sink was dumping waste water directly onto the ground.A bowl was in hand sink.A scrub pad was in another hand sink. Hand sinks are for hand washing only to prevent cross contamination.A cart was blocking a hand sink.A chair was blocking another hand sink.Tongs were damaged.There were no food handler certifications available for employees.The inspector notes, due to the number and the nature of the violations, management did not show proper food safety violations.

Wet mop, not in immediate use, was stored with the mop head directly in the mop sink in a manner that did not allow for proper air drying.Frozen raw red meat was being thawed under ambient air in the cooking area. PIC stated that they were thawing.Reach in freezers throughout the facility had a heavy accumulation of ice on the sides of them.Wet rag, not in immediate use, was stored outside of a sanitizer bucket at the server station.Side door of the facility, going directly outside, was propped open and not protected against pest entry.
The report shows most violations were corrected at the time of the inspection.
