Our best-of list included tried-and-true patio classics and a few sleeper hits. What it didn’t include are impressive new spots — patios open a year or less, where we need to sip a few more drinks before we know if they should be promoted to major-league status.

The Bread Club in Uptown Dallas
The reinvented Quadrangle in Uptown Dallas, now called The Quad, feels a little like a charming lane in Italy or France. Stop at the buzzy Bread Club for baguettes to-go, a smoked salmon sandwich or a chocolate chunk cookie. Then grab the best seat in the house, which is actually out front. The bakery is shielded from main roads by a row of restaurants, which means it’s in the middle of a bustling urban area but still feels serene.

Cantina La Rosa in northwest Dallas
The patio at Tex-Mex restaurant Cantina La Rosa is in the middle of a parking lot, next to a busy Central Market. But it’s calm inside the temperature-controlled, covered patio where chandeliers and pretty plants will make you forget about the hundreds of cars parked nearby. Cantina La Rosa is the new restaurant at Northwest Highway and Midway Road, where Fernando’s was for 20 years. If you haven’t been back since Fernando’s closed, do that, and ask for a seat on the patio.

Craft Beer Market in Dallas’ Preston Center
Craft Beer Market’s new two-story restaurant at Northwest Highway and Preston Road is one of the biggest rooftop bars we’ve seen in Dallas. It’s a whole other world up there, with bocce ball courts, an Airstream trailer and covered and uncovered seating. That last part is important, because the Canadian owners of Craft Beer Market are still getting to know Texans’ preferences on dining al fresco. “In Canada, we want as much sun as possible,” founder PJ L’Heureux said. “In Texas, you want as little sun as possible.” At Craft, both options are available.

Far Out in Old East Dallas/Fair Park
Grab a seat at Far Out’s patio studded with cacti and comfy chairs. This restaurant on Haskell Avenue, near Fair Park, was named a James Beard semifinalist for Best New Restaurant in 2026. But it doesn’t have much of that new car smell anymore, as this casual spot already feels lived in. If the weather is warm, consider a frozen watermelon margarita or a rum and pineapple painkiller. Everything here pairs with chef Misti Norris’ food.

Far Out is at 1906 S. Haskell Ave., Dallas. Dinner and drinks only. Closed Sundays and Mondays.
Unusually-shaped Dallas restaurant Far Out is located in a rehabilitated 1940s Quonset Hut. Formerly, this address was a Cajun fried turkey shop and a mechanic’s garage.

Fond in downtown Dallas
Hidden lunch spot Fond in downtown Dallas, which has been serving great sandwiches and pizzas since 2023, just opened a new patio. Through a Downtown Dallas Inc. program that offers a 50% matching grant for projects that enhance public spaces, Fond got some extra funds to open an outdoor dining area in the heart of the Central Business District. While you’re there noshing on a salmon Caesar salad or a pastrami-Swiss sandwich, finish your outdoor experience with a tiny cup of Fond’s soft serve. It’s close to perfect.

Fond is at 1601 Elm St., Dallas. Open for lunch on weekdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and for aperitivo Tuesdays through Fridays from 5 to 9 p.m. Closed on weekends.
Downtown Dallas restaurant Fond is known as a lunch spot, but it’s now open in the evenings Tuesdays through Fridays, too.

Kilmac’s in Oak Cliff
If Katy Trail Ice House wore Doc Martens and drank mezcal, that’s Kilmac’s in Oak Cliff. This new bar comes from the owners of The Old Monk, Spider Murphy’s and the Skellig, which means they’ve mastered how to reach drinkers of any age. At Kilmac’s, patio-seekers can sit under a covered area that feels like it belongs in the Texas Hill Country or grab a seat in the backyard. Cool kids can order a freezer martini, trend chasers can get a matcha-chai spritz and party people can go straight for a High Noon. You do you.

Little Ruby’s in Uptown Dallas
Used to be, you’d drive down Cedar Springs Avenue, near Dallas’ Crescent hotel, and find a big hole in the ground. Well, that big hole is now a several-building development called 23Springs, with all-day cafe Little Ruby’s on the first floor. Plan a breakfast meeting mid-morning and choose from ricotta hot cakes, avocado toast and espresso drinks. Or go at happy hour and get a seven-person shared cocktail. (Better bring some friends!) All of Little Ruby’s draft cocktails, like the Aperol spritz and the paloma, are available in a punch bowl for $85.

Little Ruby’s is at 2305 Cedar Springs Road, Dallas. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week. Breakfast hours begin at 9 a.m. on weekends and 10 a.m. on weekdays.
The crispy rice bowl at Little Ruby’s in Dallas comes topped with spicy aioli, ginger-lemon dressing and a sunny-side-up egg. The Dallas restaurant opened in February 2026.

Maroma in the Dallas Design District
The most sophisticated patio on this list is barely a week old. Coastal Mexican restaurant Maroma in the Dallas Design District has a beautiful terrace decorated with greenery and filled with C-shaped booths. The walls can open or close, depending on the weather. Either way, it’s temperature controlled year-round, meaning you can order seafood towers or pass around plates of ceviches and tuna tostadas without breaking a sweat.

It’s just before dinnertime and you’re looking for a happy hour spot ahead of a Dallas Stars or Dallas Mavericks game. Check out new pasta restaurant Urban Italia, and grab a seat at the side for the best views of the plaza, pregame. Bartenders are making negronis and espresso martinis and pouring glasses of cold white wine out the double-sided bar. As you take a sip, take a trip down memory lane: Before this was a two-story restaurant run by Top Chef contestant Carla Pellegrino, it was a TV studio for WFAA-Channel 8.
