Hundreds of CPS Energy customers are without power in San Antonio after storms and severe weather hit the area overnight on Monday, May 11.
A CPS Energy outage map shows that 948 customers are currently without power due to 45 active outages as of 7:35 a.m. on Monday, May 11. CPS Energy wrote on X around 7:18 a.m. that the weather-related outages are the largest in the following zip codes: 78250 and 78201.
“Our crews made significant progress overnight and are continuing to work through remaining outages following last night’s severe storms,” CPS Energy wrote on X. “Please know our crews will continue to focus on working safely today & delays in restoration time are possible due to weather conditions.”
The outages occurred after severe storms slammed the San Antonio area. The rainfall started in the evening of Sunday, May 10, bringing large hail and strong winds to the area. If you’re worried about driving in the rain on Monday morning, don’t worry. The storms and threats lasted until about 4 a.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
A slight cool-down is expected Monday after the storms, followed by another warming trend, with dry weather for most of the week, according to the NWS. Rain isn’t expected in this area this week.
