A Houston Methodist employee was found stabbed in her vehicle in a hospital parking garage early Monday morning, according to medical center police.
An email sent to hospital employees confirmed the incident occurred in an upper level of a parking garage on Fannin Street at 6:47 a.m. The victim was found in her car on Monday morning after a 911 call, and the suspect is still at large. The suspect in question was photographed wearing a red Houston Rockets hoodie with an apparent name tag on the top left of his hoodie. Houston police urged hospital employees to “please be on the lookout for this individual” in an email sent to employees on Monday
One commenter on Reddit claimed to be the victim’s cousin. The commentator said the victim is currently in trauma care at Houston Methodist, though she is “stable and surrounded by family.”
Roberta L. Schwartz, Houston Methodist’s Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer, said Monday there is “no indication of an ongoing threat to our campus,” in an email sent to hospital staff Monday, per KPRC 2’s Michael Horton.
The University of Texas Police Department (UTPD), which provides security support in parts of the Texas Medical Center, has not released a detailed public briefing about the stabbing. It remains unclear whether a suspect has been identified or taken into custody.
Houston Methodist is still operating as usual as of late Monday morning.
