Anchor Sushi Bar on Royal Lane in Dallas is closing May 31, 2026, CEO Hunter Pond confirmed.
Anchor Sushi Bar — not to be confused with Anchor Bar, the chicken wing chain making its way into Texas — is known for its sushi rolls. Beyond those, Anchor Sushi Bar sells an unexpected mix of other items, like a white cheddar burger, a plate of French fries and a grilled chicken sandwich.
Anchor Sushi Bar is owned by Vandelay Hospitality, the Dallas company that created Hudson House and a dozen restaurant brands, including Drake’s steakhouse, D.L. Mack’s pizza, Jack & Harry’s and others.
El Molino’s expansion north is common for this Dallas company: Vandelay already has D.L. Mack’s and Hudson House restaurants nearby in Preston Hollow. It also has concentrations of restaurants in University Park’s Snider Plaza and in Uptown Dallas’ West Village.
Pond said via email that El Molino is “a natural fit” for the Preston-Royal neighborhood.
“As we’ve continued to evaluate the neighborhood and its evolving dining preferences, we believe the area is uniquely positioned for an elevated Mexican dining experience,” Pond said via email.
Although Anchor Sushi bar won’t live on in Preston Hollow, the same restaurant on Dallas’ Knox Street will remain open, the company confirmed.
Anchor Sushi Bar at 6025 Royal Lane, Dallas, is expected to close May 31, 2026 and be replaced by El Molino.
Anchor Sushi Bar at 3130 Knox St., Dallas, is expected to remain open.
