A 17-year-old male was hospitalized in critical condition early Sunday morning after a shooting at Cole Park, according to the Corpus Christi Police Department.

Officers were dispatched at 4:49 a.m. to the 1700 block of Ocean Drive in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located the juvenile male with gunshot wounds and immediately began administering first aid until medics arrived. The victim was then transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Around the same time, an adult male arrived separately at a local hospital with a gunshot wound. Police have not confirmed whether the two incidents are connected, though investigators believe both stem from the same disturbance.

Detectives with CCPD’s Criminal Investigations Division were called to the scene due to the nature of the call. Through preliminary investigation, detectives determined a disturbance occurred in which a weapon was produced. Several witnesses were detained at the scene and are currently being formally interviewed by CID.

Police described the incident as isolated and said the investigation remains active and ongoing.

No arrests have been announced. The identity of the 17-year-old victim has not been released.
