They won’t be playing a jingle or ringing a bell as they drive around, but Blue Bell is nonetheless bringing free ice cream to the Houston area, just as the heat is ratcheting up.
The Brenham creamery is hitting Space City as part of its ongoing free ice cream tour. The Texas-wide tour kicked off in the San Antonio and Austin area a few months ago, and now that they’ve gotten their fill, it’s Houston’s turn.
Blue Bell will be “handing out free hand-dipped ice cream, frozen snacks, and fun giveaways to thank the communities that have supported us for over 100 years,” and there will be plenty of merchandise available as well to accidentally drip that ice cream on.
This is not one of those situations where you hear the jingle of an ice cream truck and burst out the front door like the Kool-Aid Man to chase after it. Instead, Blue Bell will park its special events truck at grocery stores throughout the Houston area, including Walmart, Kroger and others. Check out their tour page for further details.
As befits the Houston announcement, some Dallas area residents were feeling a bit left out. “Please come to DFW,” one commenter begged, “I love y’all so much.”
But Blue Bell assured them that they’ll be heading that way soon. There’s plenty of ice cream to go around, Texas. Be patient.
