LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Lubbock Law Enforcement Citizens Academy is now accepting applications for the fall 2026 class.
The free course is designed to give citizens a close-up look at local law enforcement. The class meets each Tuesday night from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for 10 weeks.
Students will learn about the agencies that serve Lubbock, tour facilities, meet with officers from specialized units and have the opportunity to join patrol on a ride-along.
Instructors are from the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, the Lubbock Police Department, the Department of Public Safety and the Lubbock County District Attorney’s Office.
Classes start Wednesday, Aug. 18 and run until Tuesday, Oct. 20 with a graduation ceremony on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
Interested students are asked to commit to attending all 10 weeks. Space is limited to the first 25 qualified applicants.
Qualified applicants are those above the age of 18 with a valid driver’s license who have passed a background check.
