May 14
Six String Showdown II: House of Rock will host Six String Showdown II, a bracket-style guitar battle for guitarists, at 6 p.m. Cost: $11.15. Information: texashouseofrock.com.
JonMikael Mrez Band: Brewster Street Ice House will host local group JonMikael Mrez Band at 7 p.m. Cost: Free. Information: brewsterstreet.net.

“The Hunchback of Notre Dame”: Join Harbor Playhouse for its production of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” a musical based on Disney’s 1996 film about Quasimodo, the bell-ringer of the Notre Dame Cathedral. Time: 7:30 p.m. Cost: $20. Information: harborplayhouse.com.

Beach to Bay: The 49th annual Beach to Bay Relay Marathon will begin at 7 a.m. on North Padre Island, across the Laguna Madre along the JFK Causeway, then travel through the Naval Air Station Corpus Christi and finish on Shoreline Boulevard. Registration is open for full runners only and ends May 15. Cost: $125 for registration; free to watch. Information: beachtobayrelay.com.
Read and Rollover: Join the Gulf Coast Humane Society for its monthly Read and Rollover event at 3118 Cabaniss Road. Attendees will be able to read to animals awaiting their forever homes. People may bring their own reading material or use the books provided. Time: Noon to 1 p.m. Cost: Free. Information: gchscc.org.
