AUSTIN, Texas — Today is Halloween, and parents and children are expected to go out tonight for trick-or-treating. The Austin Police Department is reminding parents to follow several safety rules, including inspecting treats, knowing your child’s route and following crosswalk signals. The CBS Weather team is also predicting cooler weather, so trick-or-treaters are advised to bring jackets.

For those traveling today, CapMetro says it is extending its rail service hours. Trains will run until 2:30 a.m. Several Night Owl bus routes will operate until 3 a.m. to help riders get home safely.
