EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — This spring season has brought a surge of grasshopper activity to the Borderland.
Carlos Cruz, operations manager for Truly Nolen Pest Control, told KTSM the rise in grasshopper sightings is normal for this time of year and has a lot to do with the weather.
He stated that El Paso experienced a wet winter, and with a warm spring on the way, grasshoppers are hatching sooner than they typically do.
“For the most part, it’s just a pest; people don’t want them in the house, and we understand that,” said Cruz.
Cruz assured the public that there are not really any concerns, the grasshoppers will live about a year, and that will be it.
Besides grasshoppers, other common insects may be making more frequent appearances as the weather continues to get warmer, such as ants, roaches, and spiders.
Cruz recommends that extermination services be performed every month, every two months, or quarterly to ensure your home remains as free of pests as possible.
“We can’t stop them, we can only control them.”
