New family-focused play space will combine sensory play, construction-themed activities and year-round indoor fun
A new indoor play concept designed around sand, imagination and hands-on creativity is heading to Plano. Diggers Cove is preparing to open this summer, bringing what it describes as an indoor sand playground experience for children ages 1 to 10.
The upcoming play space will be located at 7224 Independence Parkway, Suite 238, near the intersection of Independence Parkway and Legacy Drive.
A Different Kind Of Indoor Playground
Unlike traditional indoor play centers focused on climbing structures or arcade games, Diggers Cove centers around large indoor sand play areas designed to encourage digging, building, sensory exploration and imaginative play.
According to the company’s website, the playground will feature silica-free sand sourced from the Bahamas, along with construction-themed tools, ride-on excavators and interactive digging stations. The concept is designed to blend entertainment with developmental play by encouraging creativity, fine motor skills and collaborative interaction among children.
The indoor setup also gives families a weather-proof option during North Texas summers and rainy days.
A Growing Trend In Hands-On Play
Experiential and sensory-based play spaces have continued gaining popularity as parents increasingly look for activities that encourage physical interaction and creativity away from screens.
Diggers Cove joins a broader movement of interactive children’s entertainment venues focused on tactile play, imaginative learning and open-ended exploration.
The company says the environment is designed to allow children to “dig, scoop and sculpt” while creating castles, pathways and construction-style builds alongside other kids.
