FC Dallas is retaining a key piece of its midfield for the foreseeable future.
FCD has signed midfielder Kaick Ferreira to a new contract that runs through the 2028-29 season, the club announced Thursday. According to the club, the contract also includes club options for the 2029-30 and 2030-31 campaigns.
Ferreira, a central midfielder from Brazil, has appeared in 40 matches for FCD over the last two seasons. He initially joined the club ahead of the 2025 season, signing a U22 Initiative four-year deal that had a one-year club option. Before he landed in MLS, Ferreira played for Brazilian Serie A squad Gremio.
The midfielder has scored three goals and posted one assist since joining the North Texas squad.
“I’m very happy. Since I arrived here, I’ve felt at home,” Ferreira said in a statement. “The club has always supported me and my family, which means a lot. My adaptation has gone very well with my teammates and everyone at the club. I’m happy to take another big step in my career. I want to thank everyone involved for believing in me, trusting me and believing in my work. I also want to thank God for everything.”
After signing his new deal, Ferreira will still carry the U22 Initiative designation on FCD’s roster. According to MLS, the U22 Initiative allows the league’s clubs to sign up to four players aged 22 or younger to lucrative deals at reduced budget charges.
