The Houston Gamblers haven’t done much as of late, aside from signing tight ends. Veteran Cam Sutton has officially re-signed with Houston, a move that comes just days after the signing of former FSU TE Camren McDonald.

Cam Sutton has been a part of the spring football scene for a few years now. He made his debut in 2023, with the XFL’s Vegas Vipers. That year, he caught 12 passes for 140 yards – as part of an offense that could never quite find its rhythm.

In 2024, Sutton was a late camp addition to the Memphis Showboats. With such a short period of time to try and make the roster, Cam was let go during cutdowns – and remained a free agent.

The Houston Roughnecks (now Gamblers) came calling, though. As General Manager Will Lewis put his roster together in 2025, he signed Cam Sutton – who ended up making the team’s 50 man roster in camp.

Cam was primarily TE3 in Houston, and was actually released for a time during the season. When Josh Pederson went down with injury, though, Sutton was brought back – and saw action the final couple of weeks. Sutton had four catches for 39 yards.

Cam fits the mold of the tight end that Houston’s offense wants to lean into moving forward. He’s got size, is physical, and can run the simple routes well. Now, he’ll get to compete for a roster spot once again in 2026.
