AUSTIN, Texas — Austin residents are getting ready to roll up their sleeves for “It’s My Park Day,” the city’s beloved biannual day of service organized by the Austin Parks Foundation. The event kicks off tomorrow and invites volunteers from across the community to help restore and beautify local parks and green spaces.
Participants will take part in a variety of projects — from litter cleanup and tree mulching to removing invasive plants — all led by community members. The goal is to make Austin’s parks healthier, greener, and more welcoming while bringing neighbors together.
For over 20 years, “It’s My Park Day” has united Austinites of all ages and backgrounds to give back to the outdoor spaces that make the city unique. Many locals look forward to the event each year as a celebration of both community spirit and Austin’s natural beauty.
Several special pickup days for tools and supplies are scheduled in advance (October 30-31) to support volunteer efforts.
Highlighted locations include:
Dougherty Arts Center at 1110 Barton Springs Rd, where a garden clean-out begins at 10 a.m., followed by a community art project.
Trail clean-up at Country Club Creek Greenbelt in south Austin, starting at 9 a.m., with volunteers instructed to wear long sleeves and sturdy shoes.
A project at Festival Beach Food Forest (29 Waller St) from 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., featuring marching-band performances and community puppetry.
