Dallas weather: Storms may return to North Texas on Sunday

After a string of hot and sunny days, the clouds are set to return to North Texas Sunday. 

The day is starting somewhat sunny with temperatures forecast to top out neat 88 degrees, according to the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office. Overnight temperatures can plunge to 75 degrees with wind gusts as high as 35 mph. 

North Texas is looking at a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 p.m., the weather service’s forecast said. A 10% chance of storms will linger through the evening until 7 p.m. 

The coming week is going to be filled with consistent chances of showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures throughout the week are expected to steadily warm with highs in the 80s. 

SUNDAY: Partly cloudy, warm and windy with a 20% chance of an evening thunderstorm. High: 89. Wind: S 20-30 mph with higher gusts.

MONDAY: Partly to mostly cloudy, warm and windy with a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Low: 75. High: 88. Wind: S 20-30 mph with higher gusts.

TUESDAY: Partly to mostly cloudy, warm and breezy with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Low: 72. High: 84. Wind: SE 10-20 mph with higher gusts.

WEDNESDAY: Partly to mostly cloudy and slightly cooler with a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Low: 69. High: 82. Wind: NE 5-10 mph.

THURSDAY: Partly to mostly cloudy and warm with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Low: 65. High: 80. Wind: E 5-10 mph.

FRIDAY: Partly cloudy and warm with a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Low: 67. High: 80. Wind: SE 5-10 mph.
