Colorado Springs police saw robberies, fatal crashes and retail crimes last week, among other incidents, with law enforcement making 328 arrests in El Paso County.
From May 10 to May 16, the Colorado Springs Police Department posted seven blotter entries to its public database of incidents approved for release. Here is a recap of those entries:
On Sunday, May 10, a pedestrian in a wheelchair was struck by a commercial bus, later succumbing to their injuries at a hospital. Initial investigation revealed that the pedestrian was in the southbound, right-hand turn lane on South Powers Boulevard when they were hit by the bus. Speed and impairment did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
On Monday, 26-year-old Eric Silver was arrested after allegedly attempting to steal $300 worth of merchandise from a store and then swinging an aluminum baseball bat at a loss protection officer when they attempted to stop him. Silver faces charges of aggravated assault and had an outstanding, unrelated felony arrest warrant.
On Wednesday, officers investigated two businesses under the same ownership that were accused of selling counterfeit items. After a search warrant was obtained, law enforcement officials recovered “over a thousand items from each business.” Police say the suspect may have committed similar crimes in other states. No arrests were made and the investigation is ongoing.
On Saturday, a motorcyclist died after crashing near North Circle Drive and East Van Buren Street. Police say speed appears to be a contributing factor in the crash.

On Wednesday, police located an abducted infant from California, who was put in protective custody. No other information was released.
On Thursday, police arrested Jorge Rodriguez after a brief standoff, in which he entered a residence and hid behind the dryer in a laundry room. Police K-9 Tre located Rodriguez and officers used chemical munitions before he surrendered peacefully.
On Saturday, Deshawn Marion and Avery Hence were arrested in connection with an active robbery, in which police used drones and a K-9 officer to locate and arrest both suspects in the business.
