LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Red Raiders took on the Ole Miss Rebels in the Lubbock Regional Final Sunday afternoon, looking to punch their way into the NCAA Super Regional.
SECOND INNING:
Scoreless in the second inning, Jackie Lis started things off, collecting a two RBI single to right field, scoring in Mihyia Davis and Lauren Allred, giving the Red Raiders the 2-0 lead over Ole Miss.
THIRD INNING:
The bats would explode in the third inning for Texas Tech, scoring eight runs, extending their lead to 10-0.
Davis started it off driving in a run, making it 3-0, bringing in Taylor Pannell and then back-to-back wild pitches gave the Red Raiders the five-run lead.
Mia Williams would bring in Allred off a rope into left field, making this one a 6-0 ball game. With two runners on and only one out, Jackie Lis hit one out to centerfield for the two-run single, bringing home Logan Halleman and Williams, extending the Texas Tech lead in this one to 8.
Kaitlyn Terry then singled to centerfield allowing Lis to score followed by a Davis sacrifice fly to make this 10-0 ball game for the Red Raiders.
FOURTH INNING:
Lis had a day at the plate, scoring Halleman in the fourth inning off a groundout extending the lead to 11.
FIFTH INNING:
NaJaree Canady stepped up to the plate in the fifth inning and delivered a standup double, scoring both Pannell and Davis for the 13-2 lead.
Texas Tech would round out the scoring with a Williams grounder, scoring Allred. Terry pitched four innings for Texas Tech with three strikeouts, followed by Canady with one inning pitched with two strikeouts.
The Texas Tech Red Raiders run-rule Ole Miss to win the Lubbock regional and advance to their second-straight Super Regional, also the second Super in school history.
They will head to Gainesville for a matchup with #6 Florida next weekend.
