EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — International music sensation BTS brought a touch of Texas western style to the global stage after members of the group were seen wearing hats purchased in El Paso from Starr Western Wear during the group’s Mexico City concert weekend, according to Leo Marketing Agency.
Staff at Starr Western Wear’s Downtown location at 112 E. Overland Ave. said BTS members visited the store during the first weekend in May and bought a variety of western hats, belts and accessories.
The purchases included items from brands such as Resistol, Bullhide, Justin, Charlie 1 Horse and Cuadra, staff said.
The visit initially stayed low-profile, but staff later recognized several of the styles after concert photos and videos circulated online showing BTS members wearing the western hats during appearances and events surrounding the Mexico City concerts.
It was such an exciting experience for our team,” staff members at Starr Western Wear said. “Seeing artists and visitors from around the world embracing western fashion and shopping local in El Paso was incredibly special.
One of the most talked-about styles online was a red Charlie 1 Horse felt hat that drew attention from fans across social media and in concert footage shared worldwide.

Staff also reported welcoming visitors from Korea, Japan, Brazil, Europe, Mexico and across the United States during major entertainment weekends, saying many traveled to the Borderland for concerts and wanted to experience Texas western culture while in the city.
It’s an honor anytime visitors from around the world discover El Paso and experience our western culture,” said Enoch Kimmelman, owner of Starr Western Wear. “Starr Western Wear has been outfitting cowboys and cowgirls since 1964, so seeing our hats worn on an international stage is something we’re very proud of—not just for our store, but for El Paso as a whole.
