$20,000 sponsorship will help more children learn water safety skills through the Aransas Pass Aquatic Center program.
ARANSAS PASS, Texas — Phillips 66 is expanding free swim lessons for children in Aransas Pass Independent School District through a new $20,000 sponsorship supporting the city’s Swim Safety Program.
On Monday, officials from the energy company said the funding will allow twice as many students to participate in swim lessons this summer as last year.
The program is offered through a partnership between Phillips 66, the City of Aransas Pass, and the Aransas Pass Aquatic Center.
The free program focuses on water safety education and basic swim instruction for early elementary students in Aransas Pass ISD.
A kickoff event for the Swim Safety Program is planned at the aquatic center on East Johnson Avenue on Wednesday, where representatives from Phillips 66 and city leaders are expected to discuss the expanded program.
Phillips 66 officials said the company has supported swim safety programs for more than 50 years and continues to invest in water safety education in communities where it operates.
“We’re proud to continue this important work in Aransas Pass for a second year, expanding access so even more students can learn this life-saving skill,” said Jessica Follett, regional public affairs advisor for Texas and the Gulf Coast with Phillips 66.
City leaders said the additional funding will help more local families access swim lessons at no cost while also giving children important water safety skills.
