LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A 14-year-old male is in police custody after a stolen vehicle chase ended in a crash at 19th Street and Avenue A.
An LPD officer identified a stolen vehicle being driven in the area of 34th & University at 2:13 p.m.
The officer tried to perform a traffic stop and the driver fled, leading to a pursuit. The chase ended at 19th & A when the driver crashed into a utility pole.
The suspect sustained minor injuries in the crash and initially refused medical treatment at the scene.
He was later transported to UMC, where he was medically cleared before being booked into the Lubbock County Juvenile Justice Center on charges of Evading Arrest by Vehicle, Evading Arrest on Foot, two counts of Failure to Leave Information (involving damge to vehicles), Failure to Leave Information (involving damage to a fixed object), and Reckless Driving.
