OXFORD, Miss. (WMC) – The Oxford Police Department reports that an unfounded bomb threat that resulted in the evacuation of Oxford Middle School on Tuesday has been traced to a minor in Texas.
Police say the suspect, who has not been identified, is now in custody.
The incident began with a phone call to the front office at Oxford Middle from a blocked number, according to police. The caller reportedly gave a bomb threat.
School resource officers immediately placed the school on lockdown. The school was evacuated as police and K-9 units searched the campus for any threats.
Police say they were able to trace the blocked phone number to Texas through investigative techniques.
