Police say three people assaulted a Stevens High School student at a convenience store on the far West Side.

The incident occurred about 1:30 p.m. Monday in the 9800 block of Potranco Road, San Antonio police said.

The 18-year-old student was at the store when three people approached him and demanded his belongings. The student said he did not have anything, and one person struck him with a gun, according to police.

San Antonio and Northside ISD police responded and apprehended three suspects. A police dog helped find the trio.

Stevens High School and nearby Murnin Elementary School were temporarily placed on secure status while law enforcement worked to resolve the situation, a Northside ISD spokesman said.

San Antonio police identified one suspect as a 17-year-old boy and the other two as 18-year-olds. The three people apprehended were not NISD students, the district said.

The gun was not found, police said. The investigation remains active.
