SUNLAND PARK, N.M. (KFOX14/CBS4) — Sunland Park Police are investigating two separate shooting incidents that occurred on Monday.

The first incident took place on Ashwood Drive near Santa Teresa Elementary at approximately 3 a.m.

A hospital in the El Paso area alerted law enforcement about a patient with gunshot injuries potentially linked to an event in Sunland Park.

Officers responded to the scene and discovered an active crime scene. The victim, a female, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and is in critical condition. The suspect in this case has been taken into custody.

The second incident occurred on Palma Drive near McNutt Road at around 4 p.m.

A spokesperson for the city of Sunland Park said officers found a male victim with gunshot injuries upon arrival.

Despite life-saving efforts by the Sunland Park Police Department and the Sunland Park Fire Department, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. A suspect has been detained, and the investigation is ongoing.

Both cases are currently under investigation, and suspects have been apprehended, ensuring there is no active threat to the community.
