An 81-year-old woman was found dead at a popular Texas Hill Country state park on Wednesday, May 20, after she vanished the day before, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD).
Several agencies — including Texas State Park Police, Texas Game Wardens, Willow City Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Fredericksburg Fire/EMS and other regional first responders, as well as Enchanted Rock State Natural Area staff — helped look for the woman overnight. However, severe storms moved into the area, forcing crews to stop due to unsafe conditions while TPWD staff remained on site Tuesday night, a news release said.
On Wednesday morning, May 20, search efforts continued. The missing woman’s body was found around 9:30 a.m., and she was pronounced dead by a Justice of the Peace, according to TPWD.
