The Plano Reapers edged Johnsburg 1-0 Wednesday behind a dominant complete-game performance from Quentin Santoria. Santoria allowed just three hits with no walks while striking out 11 over seven innings. Shane Downs and Brandon Ramos each recorded a hit for the Reapers, with Ramos driving in Justin Bishop for the game’s lone run.
Somonauk fell 10-0 to Marquette of Ottawa in five innings. Connor Knutson and Cole Gudmunson each singled to account for the Bobcats’ offense.
Yorkville defeated Bolingbrook 16-5 in five innings. Owen Middleton led the offense with two hits, five RBIs and three runs scored, while Bryce Baxa added two hits, including a double, with four RBIs. Kal Arntzen also collected two hits with an RBI and three runs scored. Ryder Fisher earned the win after pitching three innings, allowing five runs, three earned, on four hits with five walks and three strikeouts. Gavin Shimizu tossed two hitless relief innings and struck out four.
Sandwich earned a 6-5 Kishwaukee River Conference victory over Woodstock. Braden Behringer paced the Indians with four hits, including a double, while driving in two runs and scoring twice. Cash White also knocked in two runs, and Griffin Somlock scored two runs in the win.
Geneva defeated St. Charles East 10-0 in five innings for the program’s record-setting 27th win of the season. Nick Torrence, Mason Bruesch, Alex Abraham and Gavin Dworak each had two hits for the Vikings. Bruesch doubled and homered with two RBIs and two runs scored, while Dworak tripled twice and drove in three runs with another run scored. Abraham also had two RBIs. Bruesch pitched all five innings, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out four.
Newark lost 14-4 to Lisle in six innings. Colin Shields had two hits and scored a run to lead Newark offensively, while Jimmy Kath added a hit and scored once. Kiptyn Bleuer and Jacob Seyller also scored runs in the loss.
Indian Creek dropped an 11-1 decision to Woodland in five innings. Zak Nelson recorded a hit and scored the Timberwolves’ lone run.
Marmion Academy outlasted Parkview Christian Academy 6-5 in eight innings. Alec Gilsinn led the Cadets with three hits and an RBI, while Max Ulbrich added two hits, including a double, with an RBI. Charlie Zebig and Alex Saling each contributed a hit and an RBI. Ben Piekarz pitched six innings, allowing five runs, two earned, on six hits with one walk and three strikeouts, while Ethan Burhans struck out two in two innings of relief. For the Falcons, Landon Malkowski had two hits, including a triple, and drove in four runs. Crew Staudacher added two hits and scored a run, Christian Mulder doubled and scored twice, and Matthew Busch drove in a run in the loss.
