The once-iconic homegoods retailer will reopen inside The Container Store as part of a merger-driven revival, bringing dozens of locations back nationwide, including a few in the Houston area.
The partial relaunch comes just three years after Bed Bath & Beyond filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2023 and shuttered all of its physical brick-and-mortar stores that summer. The brand, now operating as an e-commerce-focused home goods company, will reappear in 98 locations across the U.S., according to a recent news release.
Four Bed Bath & Beyond locations will reopen as co-located storefronts in the Houston area:
The chainwide reset at The Container Store followed the merger announcement, beginning in late April as stores nationwide started reworking floor plans to accommodate Bed Bath & Beyond products. The company also liquidated roughly 30 percent of select categories and SKUs to make room for the changes.
“This is a reset with purpose,” Jen Pape, senior vice president of stores at The Container Store, said in the release. “By streamlining select categories today, we’re creating the space and flexibility needed to introduce Bed Bath & Beyond products and deliver a more complete home experience for our customers.”
The first co-branded store opened in Fort Worth on Saturday, bringing together what company leaders described as the best of The Container Store’s organizing solutions and the design services and expertise of Bed Bath & Beyond’s home essentials.
Amy Sullivan, president of Bed Bath & Beyond, referred to the collaboration as the ‘Everything Home’ vision.
“By bringing together the strengths of these two iconic brands, we’re creating a more connected shopping experience that combines inspiration, organization, solutions and value for customers across every room in the home,” Sullivan said in a May news release.
In addition to the four Houston locations, nine additional co-branded stores are expected to pop up across the Lone Star State:
