The West Texas Food Bank (WTXFB) stands with Feeding Texas and the 20 food banks across the state as they continue to respond to the growing need caused by Friday’s SNAP rulings. Thousands of West Texans, including seniors, children, and federal employees, are facing uncertainty as benefits are paused.
Libby Stephens, CEO of the West Texas Food Bank, issued the following statement:
“This ruling leaves thousands of families in West Texas uncertain about how they’ll put food on the table. The West Texas Food Bank will continue to step up to ensure no one faces hunger alone. We are working closely with our community partners to fill the gap for those affected by the pause in SNAP benefits and the ongoing federal shutdown.”
The West Texas Food Bank continues to see a sharp increase in demand as families turn to emergency food distributions for the first time. WTXFB is coordinating with local agencies, churches, and pantries to make sure families across all 19 counties in our service area can access food and resources when they need it most.
