Power outages continue to drop across Coastal Bend after overnight storms

More than 1,600 customers remain without power on Thursday afternoon, with Refugio and Nueces counties reporting the highest outages.

Outage breakdown as of 1:20 p.m. according to AEP:

Power outages continue to decrease across parts of the Coastal Bend Thursday morning following overnight storms and heavy rain.

According to AEP’s outage map, as of 9:55 a.m., Nueces County reported 1,681 outages with an estimated restoration time of 3 p.m. Aransas County reported 421 outages with restoration expected by 6 p.m.

Kleberg County reported 528 outages with an estimated restoration time of 10:30 a.m., while San Patricio County reported 222 outages with restoration expected around 12:30 p.m.

Jim Wells County reported 20 outages with restoration estimated by noon. Live Oak County reported 16 outages with restoration also expected by noon.

Crews continue working across the region as rain and wet road conditions remain possible throughout the morning.

As of 6 a.m. here are the latest outages along with restoration times. 3,155 outages reported in the following counties.

Jim Wells County — 2,262 — 12 p.m.
Kleberg County — 527 — 9:30 a.m.
Nueces County — 7,755 — 12 p.m.
Aransas County — 37 — 12 p.m.
Live Oak County — 22 — 12 p.m.
San Patricio County — 100 — 12 p.m.

Another round of rain and thunderstorms moved across the Coastal Bend Thursday morning, leaving thousands of residents without power and prompting flash flood concerns in parts of South Texas.

According to AEP Texas’s outage map, the largest number of outages was reported in Jim Wells County, where 2,262 customers were without power, with an estimated restoration time of noon.

Kleberg County reported 527 outages with restoration expected by 9:30 a.m. 

Nueces County had 207 outages with an estimated restoration time of noon, while Aransas County reported 37 outages.

Heavy rain also led to flash flooding concerns in Alice and Kingsville as storms continued moving through the area Thursday morning.

The outages come after several days of rain and thunderstorms across the Coastal Bend this week. Drivers are urged to use caution on wet roads and avoid flooded streets.
