LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock County will close two polling locations on Election Day due to a shortage of poll workers, according to the Lubbock County Elections Office.
Abernathy City Hall and Mae Simmons Community Center will be closed May 26. The elections office made the decision after consulting with both the Democratic and Republican Party Chairs.
The four nearest polling locations to Abernathy City Hall are:
New Deal Community Clubhouse at 309 S Monroe Ave, New Deal;
Shallowater Community Center at 902 Avenue H, Shallowater
Lauro Cavazos Middle School at 210 N University Ave (Door #2), Lubbock
Maggie Trejo Supercenter at 3200 Amherst Street (Rodgers Community Center Social Hall), Lubbock.
The four nearest polling locations to Mae Simmons Community Center are:
Patterson Library at 1836 Parkway Dr (Community Room), Lubbock
Copper Rawlings Senior Center at 213 40th St (Social Hall), Lubbock
Broadway Church of Christ at 1924 Broadway (Foyer), Lubbock
J. A. Hodges Community Center at 4011 University Ave (Social Hall), Lubbock.
Voters will be able to vote at any of the remaining 31 polling locations on Election Day.
