Clear Creek ISD moved its Saturday high school graduation ceremony ahead of rainy weather expected to start later in the afternoon.
The 38,700-student district located southeast of Texas announced earlier this week that it would be moving its outdoor graduation events for Clear Horizons Early College High School and Clear View High School students into an indoor venue “due to the projected weather forecast.” Repeated rounds of storms are expected to sweep into the Houston area through Memorial Day weekend.

On the other hand, some districts are not shifting graduation plans due to the weather. Some, like Galena Park and Sheldon ISDs, already have ceremonies scheduled to take place indoors.
Humble ISD is hosting a graduation for two high schools at Daikin Park on Saturday. Chief Communications Officer Jamie Mount said the roofs will be closed during the graduation ceremonies.
Storm chances are expected to increase in the afternoon, potentially bringing heavy rain and flash flooding. A flood watch has been issued for various southeast Texas counties, including Harris County, and is expected to remain in effect until Monday at 7 p.m. The region could see two to four inches of rainfall, with isolated higher amounts of five to six inches through the weekend.
