Texas A&M baseball finds out at Monday where it will land in the 64-team field of the 2026 NCAA Baseball Tournament. The Aggies, who finished third in the SEC regular-season standings before going one-and-done at the SEC Tournament, hope to make it to Charles Schwab Field for the College World Series, which begins June 12 in Omaha, Neb.
The Aggies are expected to be one of the 16 teams awarded to host an NCAA regional this coming weekend, but will they be able to host a super regional?

How does the Selection Show work?
There will be 64 teams that make the tournament.
Teams that earned automatic bids in the NCAA bracket include those that won their conference tournaments. In the Power Four, that’s Kansas (Big 12), UCLA (Big Ten), Georgia (SEC) and Georgia Tech (ACC). There are 31 conference winners in all, including Southern Miss from the Sun Belt.

The other 33 teams will receive at-large bids. Teams must have an overall record of .500 or better against Division I competition, and strength of schedule also is a factor.
What role does RPI play?
The NCAA uses the Rating Percentage Index to calculate where teams could place in the bracket, similar to how the NCAA looks at NET rankings to fill its men’s and women’s NCAA Basketball Tournament fields.

A team’s RPI is calculated by using its winning percentage, its opponents’ winning percentage and its opponents’ opponents’ winning percentage. UCLA is currently ranked No. 1 in RPI, thus the Bruins could end up as the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. Texas A&M is 13th in RPI; Texas is fifth.

The top 16 teams in RPI will host double-elimination regionals and the top eight will host super regionals next week, which are best-of-three formats. Based on the NCAA’s current RPI standings, eight SEC teams are projected to host regionals (Auburn, Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi State, Texas A&M and Ole Miss).
Where will Texas A&M be in the bracket?
Texas A&M (39-14) is 13th in RPI and will likely stay in College Station for both the regionals and super regionals, should the Aggies get out of the first weekend.

Where will Texas A&M land?
Auburn beat the Aggies 7-0 in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament on Friday and the Aggies dropped to 13th in RPI, which means the Aggies should still be in line to host a super regional if they survive their own regional.
Texas A&M had built some momentum midway through the conference schedule, up to a home series win over then-No. 2 Texas in early April. The Aggies won their next four games after that as well, beating Houston 10-2, sweeping LSU 10-4, 7-2 and 5-2, before their April 21 nonconference matchup with UTSA was rained out. A&M cooled the rest of the way, going 5-5 in its final 10 games — including two losses in a three-game home series against then-No. 8 Auburn — before the SEC Tournament.
