EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The City of Las Cruces has a new assistant public works director.

The City of Las Cruces announced that Jimmy Moreno has been named to the post and began serving in his new role on May 11.

Moreno brings more than 20 years of engineering experience and has served the organization for 14 years. Since joining the City in 2012, he has contributed significantly to public works through roles including project manager, project manager supervisor, and construction management administrator, the City of Las Cruces said.

His leadership, technical expertise, and commitment to excellence have been instrumental to the success of numerous projects, the City said.

In his new role, Moreno will continue advancing the Public Works Department’s mission and supporting the development and delivery of high‑impact initiatives across the City. Moreno is a graduate of New Mexico State University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in geological engineering and a master’s degree in civil engineering, with a minor in experimental statistics.
